Cheryl Baxter has been in the entertainment business for over 35 years working in theater, commercials, film and television.
Growing up as a dance teacher’s daughter in Wisconsin, Cheryl was fully prepared to move to LA and landed her first job as a dancer in the film Xanadu. This led to being the assistant choreographer to Kenny Ortega and Gene Kelly in Coppola’s film, One From the Heart and also assisting Meryl Streep in Death Becomes Her. Cheryl has worked on over 20 films including Tap, Grease 2, Pennies From Heaven, 500 Days of Summer, The Wild Wild West and The Muppet Movie. One of her favorite moments was being on the casting team of Michael Jacksons This Is It Tour, working closely with Michael, Kenny and Travis Payne. She has danced beside such legends as Gregory Hines, Sammy Davis Jr. The Nicholas Brothers, Donald O’Connor and Tony Danza. Television credits include Glee, 2 Broke Girls, the Academy and Golden Globe Awards, How I Met Your Mother, Community and Mike and Molly. She choreographed for over 15 years on the sets of General Hospital and Port Charles, working with actors on their dance scenes. Cheryl has performed in the Los Angeles and First National companies of Cats and 42nd Street and was in the Broadway, Los Angeles and 1st National companies of Sophisticated Ladies. She has choreographed theater productions all over the world and also sets shows for Universal Studios in Hollywood, Japan and Singapore, and has directed extensively for Disney and Sesame Street Live. Cheryl was one of the producers of the 2015 World Choreography Awards and continues to teach tap and musical theater classes at AMDA and UCLA. On a personal note, Cheryl is the proud mother of Ellington Ratliff, drummer of the band, R5. |
