Competition levels allow each performer to compete against performers at a similar level. The reason for having divisions in the competition is to allow each performer to compete against a performer with similar training hours and experience. Turn It Around Tour has no way of confirming how many years or hours a performer has trained, so levels are set at the teacher's discretion. Please use integrity!
PREMIER: Beginning Skill Level
- The performer has less than three years of training in the style past the age of 8. (They started training in jazz at the age of 8, and they are now 11 going into their fourth year of jazz training which would move them into the star level that season.)
- Training six hours or less per week. (If a performer is training six hours a week, technique classes such as ballet and/or leaps & turns should be included in the calculations.
- A performer may be in a maximum of seven routines total.
- Double turns, less than four consecutive fouettès and/or turns in second, and basic leaps place them in this level. (Triple turns, four consecutive fouettès and/or turns in second, switch leaps, and other highly skilled elements, would move the routine up to the star level.)
- They may perform only one solo. (The performer may perform one solo in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro, ballet, modern, musical theatre, open, and specialty and if they have a second solo in either tap, hip hop/jazz funk, and ballroom they may still compete in premier level with two solos. If a third solo exists, they must compete in the Star level.)
